Dobrogea

The one which started them all: Dobrogea. Dobrogea (Bulgarian: Добруджа, Turkish: Dobruca) is a historical and geographical habitat between the Danube and the Black Sea, which is part of the territory of Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine. The region was known in antiquity as Little Scythia, which did not designate a province, the land being part of the province of Lower Moesia and later, in the Middle Ages, the Byzantine theme Paristrion. Today, from an administrative point of view, it includes in Romania the counties of Tulcea and Constanța and in Bulgaria – the regions of Dobrich and Silistra.
